Without sounding like I’m in group therapy…..i’m Tara and I’m an interiors stylist. London born and bred, having worked for many home titles, agencies and commercial clients, home is now in Cape Town, but willing to travel wherever my work takes me.
 
 I guess I’m now one of the oldies, but to cut a loooooonnnnggg story short, after years of working in magazines, first being Prima back in 1988, in a devil-wears-prada-kinda-roll without the glam bits, I went freelance in 2002. On the 2nd January 2004, a job that I wasn’t even sure that I wanted to do, because it was in South Africa, eventually ended up being a life changer, literally. I was styling Homebase’s Outdoor Living brochure in Cape Town and after doing this every year for a few years, in 2007 I moved here for good.

I feel really lucky to have ended up doing what I do. Being freelance means variety which I love, not only with different jobs and challenges, but also the fab people you meet every day. One of the best things about being in Cape Town is that I still get to work with favourite clients and friends that come over from the UK to shoot here every year to get those awesome summer shots for their catalogues.  Most recently I’ve shot with John Lewis, Dobbies and JD Williams. The only down side is that often companies all shoot the same few weeks of the year, so sometimes timing isn’t on your side, so I’ve missed out on a few goodies.
 
So what can I do for you? I know Cape Town inside and out. Every location, every prop house, every weird and wonderful secret spot that may have that particular item or that perfect backdrop that will make your shot stand out from the rest. So come and shoot here! Weather is great, the food is amazing, and we have water, don’t panic! We have outstanding locations, that look every bit as English as you want them to, and you get a stylist that knows exactly what you, as a British brand wants.

But it’s not only clients I can help with. If you’re a styilst coming out on a job, thinking how the hell am I going to get what I need in South Africa, no worries. There is nothing I love more than spending days being your personal chauffeur, with fab tunes, ask a few who’ve had the pleasure ;),  prepping with you, finding you just what you need, let alone seeing your face when I take you to some of the most awesome shops and locations here, the joy that brings exceeds everything.

So whether you’re a client or a stylist, I ‘get’ what you need and really hope we can work together.
